George Washington Academy is a public charter school for grades Kindergarten - 7th grade. We receive funding from Federal, Local, and State taxes and therefore we do not charge for tuition.
During pick-up times Kindergarten students and anyone associated with their carpool must use the back lot for pick-up. this procedure has alleviated much of the congestion that has been seen in years past on our property as well as 3000 East. In the spring of 2019 three lights were also added to 3000 East which has also helped greatly in the afternoon.
Yes, we ask our students to read 20-30 minutes a night depending on their grade level. In addition to reading, students who do not complete homework during the day in their specific classes may be asked to complete the assignment or project at home.
The teachers are trained to differentiate their instruction to meet the needs of all students. We also have Patriot Time, which is a 40 minute block built into the school day for all grade levels. students are working with peers on their same skill level with a teacher that has a specialized strength in that area.

Recognizing that each family situation is different, GWA requests each family fulfill their volunteer hours to the best of their ability and in a way that is supportive of their child’s education.
Applications for the 2020-2021 school year are now available for students entering Kindergarten through 7th grade. These applications are valid for students turning 5 years old on or before September 1, 2020.
The lottery for the 2021-2022 school year will take place on February 1, 2021. All applications received after January 31st will be added to the waitlist and applicants will be contacted as open spots become available.
